They have a cast iron assembly with a coppertone finish. Hardwood wheels to be kind to your flooring. Small circular mounting plate with stem make these ideal for secure attachment to slim table legs. Model 182 from By Payson Manufacturing Company of Chicago, dated 1881.

Cleaned, then wood conditioner applied to wheels. In great cosmetic and operational condition.

Here's a super-rare set of 1800's furniture swivel casters in double wheel design! Swiveling and self-leveling- wheel assembly tilts from side to side, keeping wheels in contact with uneven surfaces. Small circular mounting plate and thick stem make these ideal for secure mounting to slim table or cabinet legs. Hardwood wheels to be kind to your flooring.

By M. B. Schenck & Company of Meriden, Connecticut with patent date of May 1877.

Interestingly, Mr. Schenck was a supporter of presidential candidate Lincoln. He served for the duration of the Civil War, and voted for Lincoln a second time by sending his ballot home from the war. He founded his caster company shortly after returning home. Thank you for your service, Mr. Schenck!

I love uncovering a long hidden stash of antique casters that we can all put to great use right now!

Check out these antique furniture casters of which I just found a few dozen sets. They have heavy duty, cast iron construction with wood wheels which are great for being kind to residential flooring (tile and hardwood). Unused, new old stock from the late 1800s or early 1900s.

Although these would be great on any piece of furniture, their small circular mounting plate and thick stem make them ideal for secure mounting to slim table legs.
