These old industrial sprockets make a dynamic presence due to their large size, striking form and color!

From the early 20th century, they’re made of thick steel with a convex shape that bulges into the room. Their spiked points do show wear and now rust, but there’s still a lot of their original black painted finish- a nice neutral, yet dramatic color to fit in with any decor. At 20” in diameter, their size creates quite a presence, but without a huge weight to make display problematic.

Very excited about the recent acquisition of these antique industrial numbered gears. From the 1800s, they’re made of thick cast iron with curving spokes and a wide face of triangular teeth. Their original black painted finish has over a century-old patina with a thick layer of dirt and oils as would accumulate over the decades, confirming their role in American history.

To show off their form, I’ve handcrafted primitive stands from reclaimed old lumber, allowing the gear to be removed for handheld admiration and placement at whatever angle you desire.

The Vanderbilt Museum of Long Island took a unique approach to holiday decorating this year. Guests are greeted in the entry of the home with a dynamic industrial holiday theme.

Interior designer Joseph Del Percio of New York made an amazing holiday tree sculpture using antique gears from Iron Anarchy. A large conical metal framework was covered with live evergreen foliage, then embellished with dozens of antique iron gears, spiked wheels, and sprockets. The museum will be having a festive holiday dinner this month and we’re sure all with be dazzled by Joseph’s wonderful sculpture.

Using antique gears from Iron Anarchy, craftsman Brent Stuart of Concord, CA makes amazing industrial style Ouija board tables.

An old 27” spiked metal wheel was repurposed with an antique iron base and topped with a large circle of glass to create a striking piece of furniture! Numerals and letters are organized on the gear underneath the glass, allowing the gear planchette to move easily about to spell out mystical messages from the great beyond.

The large scalloped gear ouija board has vintage brass letter and numeral stencils with leather backings. The planchette is a bicycle disc.  All of it sits on a metal stool base.
