Handcrafted Custom Swinging Saloon Doors

Handcrafted Custom Swinging Saloon Doors
Here’s a recently completed pair of saloon doors commissioned by a brewery client in the San Francisco Bay area. The owner of Baeltane Brewing, Alan wrote to me several weeks ago wanting a pair of rustic Western style saloon doors to fit the doorway between the guest space and the back room, while tying into the woodwork of the nearby bar and seating areas. I Photoshopped together a few designs for his consideration. After shopping around, he came back to me because he liked mine the best.

I created custom tongue and groove planks of uniform width to fit his doorway perfectly, beveling them for a dimensional architectural look. I then heavily distressed them to create an aged, raised grain effect, stained them to match the pub’s existing woodwork, and applied a clear matte finish. Hand wrought iron nails from Santa Fe add a rustic, masculine accent.

I then sent photos of the completed swinging doors for Alan’s final approval. Upon receipt of “BEEEEEEEAUTIFUL!”, I sent them off to their new home. Had a great time collaborating with Alan and am excited to stop in on my next road trip to visit my doors and sample some of Alan’s work!
